You are kindly invited to a dinner party hosted by sibling-artist duo Oscar and Sophie Bannan. Taking inspiration from their exhibition Chicken Poems, the artists encourage you to join them in celebrating the domestic space through a home-cooked meal. Envisioned as an extension of their collaborative project, this event offers a unique opportunity to gain intimate insight into the lives of the artists, contextualising their relationship as siblings and collaborators.

International Women’s Day Art Tour

Gus Fisher Gallery and Te Uru are excited to present an afternoon of exhibition walkthroughs to highlight the women artists across both galleries in celebration of International Women’s Day. Begin at Gus Fisher Gallery with a guided tour of Having it all, all, all led by Curator of Contemporary Art Lisa Beauchamp. At Te Uru, join exhibiting artist Jelena Telecki for a walkthrough of her solo exhibition Oil and Water, followed by a walkthrough of international group exhibition Photosynthesisers: Women and the lens, which will be led by Curator James Gatt. Finish with refreshments at the opening event for Jelena Telecki Oil and Water.

In this dynamic workshop, participants will engage in an intuitive collage process inspired by Having it all, all, all. Through the mindful selection of images, colours, and textures, we will explore themes of body autonomy, resilience, identity, and reclamation. Embracing spontaneity and experimentation, participants will transform found materials into powerful visual statements.

This workshop is an invitation to challenge dominant narratives, reclaim the female gaze, and craft new forms of visual storytelling. Through layering, deconstruction, and reassembly, participants will create collages that celebrate defiance, self-determination, and feminist resistance—honouring the artists who reshaped the cultural landscape. No prior experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to explore, disrupt, and create.

Chicken Poems marks the launch of Gus Fisher Gallery’s new proposal driven space called The Changing Room. Intended as a project space for newly commissioned artwork, The Changing Room enables a dedicated solo space for Aotearoa-based practitioners.

Having it all, all, all is an exhibition of select video and performance art, bringing together international artists including Ana Mendieta (Cuba/USA), Yoko Ono (Japan/USA), Howardena Pindell (USA), Pipilotti Rist (Switzerland), Nil Yalter (Turkey/France) and more⁠.⁠

Chicken Poems is a new body of collaborative and parallel work by Oscar and Sophie Bannan, exhibiting as part of The Changing Room new commissions programme.
