$22.70: A collaboration by jasmine togo-brisby and john vea

This newly collaborative project by Jasmine Togo-Brisby and John Vea brings together their shared interest in labour and branding through the production of two bespoke t-shirt designs. The t-shirts are inspired by the Australian workwear brand Hard Yakka and adapt the font and colours of their red and white logo. Each of the artists have chosen a particular phrase; Vea has chosen Ngaue Faingata’a which means difficult or hard work in the Tongan language and Togo-Brisby has chosen South Sea in reference to her South Sea Islander identity.

Each t-shirt is available for purchase for $22.70, the hourly rate for a minimum wage employee as of 1 April 2023.

  • Available between sizes L – 3XL while supplies last.
  • All online orders must be picked up from Gus Fisher Gallery.
  • No cash purchases and all sales are final.

Screenprinted by the Print Room using Eco-Friendly Inks

Please note that the t-shirts are no longer available.
